Dear HACE Members and Friends,

Fall is now upon us and as with the magical phenomenon of the leaves changing colors, we too at HACE are introducing some changes to our newsletter's appearance.  We hope you like our new format!

If you are currently seeking new career opportunities, HACE has numerous events or programs that should interest you.  Additionally, we have several new job postings that have been placed on the HACE website by our Corporate Members and other leading companies.  We encourage you to take a look at these as all of these companies are sincerely looking to fill these positions with Latino professionals like you.  We have made it easy for you to apply by just clicking and your resume is then directly forwarded to the employer if you are a current HACE member.  See HACE Job Postings.

On Wednesday, October 13th, join us at the headquarters of Walgreens, one of the fastest growing companies in America.  Walgreens would like to hire professionals with backgrounds in IT, accounting, finance, merchandising, human resources and store operations.

Because of the tremendous expansion plans, Walgreens is seeking quality individuals from all industries that are willing to work hard and contribute to the company's growth in retail operations as well as their growing pharmacy benefits management administration business.  Management from all areas of the company will be on hand to pre-screen candidates and answer your questions.  If you are serious about joining a dynamic and Latino-friendly organization, you will not want to miss this program.  Walgreens typically hires over five Latino professionals at these events.  To register, please go to Walgreens Latino Recruitment Series.

On Thursday, November 11th, HACE is hosting our first Houston Career Conference.  HACE will showcase some of the country's leading companies, government agencies, academic institutions and other employers who value Latino diversity and who are interested in hiring Latino professionals. Our Career Conference includes workshops, resume clinics, mock interviews and the opportunity to meet with up to 50 employers.  Join us at the Houston Renaissance Hotel from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for this extraordinary event.  Latino professionals should sign-up and register for this free event by clicking on Houston Career Conference - Career Opportunities.

Companies interested in recruiting Latino professionals from our Houston Career Conference should know that we expect over 1,000 job seekers from all industries and functional areas.  Contact Maria Elena Medina at (312) 435-0498 ext. 16 or at medina@hace-usa.org.  For further information go to:  Houston Career Conference.

As part of our development of Latino superstars of the future, HACE conducts a seven month structured mentoring program for leading Latino students at key partner schools.  We are currently looking for Mentors interested in positively impacting the lives of these up-and-coming Latino professionals by serving as role models and sharing your personal and professional experiences with them.  HACE conducts a structured program and facilitates the logistics, content and administration of these sessions so that your role is easy.  If you are interested in serving as a College Mentor and can make a commitment to attend seven sessions during this academic year, please contact Rosa Alvarado at rosa@hace-usa.org and provide her your resume.  HACE and our students thank you in advance for sharing your success with our next generation of Latino leaders.  The deadline to register to be a Mentor is October 10th.

Speaking of Rosa, please welcome Rosa Alvarado to the HACE team as our Manager of College & High School Outreach for the Chicago/Midwest Region.  Rosa comes to HACE after spending most of her career in post-secondary education and the advancement of Latino youth.  As a graduate of San Francisco State University, she also brings to HACE personal experience from our newest area of expansion - California.  Please welcome Rosa to HACE!

Congratulations go out to the following Latino professionals who we have heard obtained their new opportunities through HACE:
  • Tony Pedraza, Walgreens
  • Grissell Reyna, Bank One
  • Maria Victoria Duncan, Boehringer Ingleheim
  • Nancy Rodriguez, USG
