College Programs

For college students, we offer a variety of leadership and personal development programs on leading college campuses specifically geared toward Latino leaders and academic achievers. Our programs are strategic and help students understand what is necessary for achieving career success, regardless of their chosen field.

Leadership Development

In partnership with Dale Carnegie Associates, HACE offers world class leadership and personal development programs for Latino student leaders on our partner university campuses. We bring together 25 to 30 Latino leaders from key organizations on campus for a two-day intensive training and development offered through Dale Carnegie Associates, a world class leader in personal training.

Topics include a range of key personal development areas including:

  • Planning and Vision
  • Public Speaking
  • Networking
  • Communications and Presentations
  • Skill Alignment and Team Roles
  • Establishing Vision
  • Recognition and Appreciation

Programs are held at various times throughout the year at HACE Partner Universities.

Mentoring Programs

In an effort to bring together Hispanic youth with Latino professionals, HACE invites Latino professionals to interact with students in a group discussion format. Thirty students from each Partner College participate in monthly group meetings with six mentors in order to foster their career development.

Monthly discussion topics include:

Participants are selected from leading Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors with a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.0.  Programs are held throughout the academic year at HACE Partner Universities.

Career Guidance

Students who participate in any of our programs will receive guidance on their resumes, interviewing skills, and networking opportunities.

Scholarships

HACE is pleased to provide information on the following scholarships available to Latino students. We encourage you to visit our partner, the Hispanic College Fund, to determine if you might be eligible for any of the scholarships listed there.


ComEd Latino Scholarship Fund
 

HACE is pleased to announce its proud partnership with ComEd, an Exelon Company, to deliver scholarship awards that will assist Latino students to further their educational goals.  As a result of ComEd's commitment to academic excellence and community service, 5 qualified recipients will be presented with a $2,500 scholarship check in October and will be recognized at HACE's Annual celebration in January 2010.

We are now accepting applications for the 2009 HACE ComEd Scholarship with a deadline of September 10, 2009.

Eligibility:

*  Latino/a students who are Illinois residents, regardless of where they attend school
*  Open to college freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are expected to graduate in spring 2010

Minimum 3.0 grade point average
Documented community service

HACE works to prepare college students for some of the best fast track jobs offered by America's leading companies and employers.  Our Company Recruitment programs bring leading companies to campuses for special company open houses or recruitment programs that are targeted to Latino students.
